And Life Continued...

Firstly let me apologise for my lack of input. I hate to use the phrase 'It's been a crazy couple of years' but you know, if the cap fits... It's good to be back. COVID meant that I didn't touch the website for two years. For those that don't know, I spent most of lockdown doing online shows on my Facebook page. Somehow I have done almost 250 shows! I can't quite fathom that. They are still going on a when I am free kinda tip. You can go check them out on my Facebook page should you wish. You can also find some of them on my YouTube page. All of those links are at the top of the page.

What this also meant was that I had some time to record an album. Seeing as I spent a year and a half only playing my piano at home, it seemed only right that I recorded a piano album. Broadwood was then born. Named after my lovely old piano, Broadwood is a 12 track album recorded during lockdown at my house. An album of my own songs, some old and some new, recorded with just piano and vocal. You can hear all of the bumps and creaks that the piano makes, but then she is over a hundred years old. The album may be raw and imperfect, but so am I.

You can find the new album on the media page and on all of your favourite download and streaming sites.

We were very lucky to get back in to the studio to record 'No One Wants To Kiss A Smoker' with the amazing Mr John Cornfield at the controls. The results are very satisfying and will be available for you to hear and own very soon. In the meantime, here is a little clip of behind the scenes where young Pip and myself decided that a ukulele was a two person instrument...

I am extremely pleased to announce that we will be playing at this years Boardmasters Festival 2019. We had such a great time last year playing on the Netloft Stage. This year we will be returning to headline the Netloft Stage on Thursday August 8th. We will be on stage at 23;00 for an hour. Please pop down and say hi if you are in the area, you would be most welcome.

A really great gig today at the BMAD Bikers Make A Difference Festival on the sea front at Paignton this May the 4th. The sun had his hat on and was shining down on the sea of denim that covered the green next to the beach. Such a welcoming and appreciative crowd. The band is sounding great and we all really enjoyed playing. It's great to have the new track 'Smoker' in the set now too and people seem to be loving it. A huge thank you to Louise Martin for making it all possible and thanks to BBC Introducing. Thank you all for caring, and May the 4th be with you ... always.

BMAD - 2019

We are very happy to announce a new song. No One Wants To Kiss A Smoker will soon be available for download and if all goes according to plan there will be an accompanying video. For now please click the link below to hear the song. I hope you like it.

We had a fantastic afternoon gig yesterday at the Porthleven Food and Music Festival. I think everyone suffered with the weather being inclement this year, last year it was baking hot. There were still plenty of people who stopped and stayed as we played the Lime Kiln stage for the second year. A huge thank you to Vicki Cox and her team for making it all happen. It is always a pleasure to play in such a beautiful location on the harbour and to an appreciative audience. There should be some pictures to follow, I will get them up as soon as I have them.

The new EP 'Business Suits & Concrete Boots' by Helm is very close to being released. It has just recently been mastered by John Cornfield. John has worked with and produced New Model Army, Supergrass, Catatonia, Razorlight, Muse, Wet Wet Wet, Robert Plant, Stone Roses and Ride. We are very excited to have him master our new EP. It was recorded at Cube Recording in Silverwell, Cornwall, and was engineered by the extremely talented Mr Ross Rothero-Bourge. They have both done an amazing job and it sounds fantastic. I can't wait for you to hear the results. Thanks to them and Gareth at Cube. I am eternally grateful.

We had a great couple of gigs at the Boardmasters Festival in Newquay this year. One of them was playing the beach sessions at Fistral Beach and the other was on the main site atop the cliffs above the beautiful Watergate Bay. They were both very enjoyable but the latter in particular was a real joy for us. We played an acoustic set on the Netloft Stage on Thursday evening. The terrible weather outside provided us with a full house for our evening show and what a fantastically appreciative crowd they were. A huge heartfelt thank you for all of your lovely comments and support. I hope we reached some new potential ASB fans that night. Here's to next year - H. x

Myself and the Bouche played a really lovely session at The Rockpool in Gwithian at the beginning of the month. It was part of their 'Dune Bar Sessions'. Two or three acts each play 3 or 4 songs acoustically in front of an appreciative crowd. These then get filmed and one from each act is then promoted through the Routenote website. Below you will find one of the ones that we did, an acoustic version of 'Someone Like U'. A huge thank you to all involved especially Matt and Ryan.

The wait is finally over and we are proud to present to the world our new single 'Surefire' and its accompanying video. We are extremely happy to be getting this out there. The audio is taken from our forthcoming EP recorded at Cube Recordings with the fabulous Mr Ross Rothero-Bourge at the flying controls all under the watchful gaze of Mr Gareth Young. The audio will be available for download very soon along with the rest of the EP.

These are indeed exciting times...

The video is right here for your enjoyment, thanks for caring - H. x

The ASB in the studio

Recently the band has entered the studio to record the new single 'Surefire'. This is taken from a forthcoming five track EP. We wanted to get a record of how we sound right now. The band is tight at the moment and I really wanted to capitalise on that. I am very excited about the sound we are producing. I hope that people will enjoy it as much as we are. We have also made a video to accompany the new single which we are also very excited about. Both the single and video will be available shortly, closely followed by the EP... Watch this space.

Below are some shots taken from the first recording day and some shots of the band being filmed, I hope you enjoy them. - H. x
